Critical Care Coordination

The most appropriate treatment for a critically ill or injured patient can change from minute to minute, making timely access to reliable healthcare data crucial to intensive care today. Its importance only grows in the face of large-scale public health emergencies.

More than 150,000 clinicians represent the front line of medical and governmental leaders responsible for responding to such emergencies. That’s why the Resilience Intelligence Network provides a unique communication platform and rapid information dissemination plan with timely, accurate guidance gleaned from operational science. From across eight clinical research networks, we strive to provide data that enable immediate insight into an emergency event’s effects on critical healthcare resources and into who is at high risk for morbidity and mortality. With support from our federal partners, we develop consensus around evidence-based clinical protocols and case report forms; exercise and test capabilities annually in response to seasonal influenza (as a pandemic model); evolve data science to facilitate real-time data capture, analysis and reporting during events; and guide and learn from international peers who share our mission.
